An Ode to MDN
I love my father-in-law. Yes, you heard me right. I realize that most of you who know Mike may find that hard to believe. But it's true. So, I'd like to give you at least ten reasons why I love Michael Donovan Norquist...
10. He used to take me golfing (yes, Mike, it's been a while...).
9. He's got a sweet big screen t.v. that he lets me watch (sometimes).
8. He took mercy on me nearly eight years ago and gave me a summer job sweating my behind off at his chemical company.
7. My kids absolutely adore him (again, I know this is strange).
6. Come on, he's got great hair (it's not fair that my father-in-law has so much more hair than I do).
5. He has helped us do our taxes for years.
4. He amazes me with how he can sit in a room for so long without talking to a single soul.
3. He is a great worship leader (and uses this gift at NBBFC regularly).
2. He took me to the Phillies game on Friday night (Diamond Dugout seats and Roy Halladay on the mound...YES!!!).
And the number 1 reason why I love Michael Donovan Norquist is...
1. His love for the Lord and obedience to God's will has served as a great example for me and has impacted my wife in profound ways.
Thanks for being a friend, Mike, and a great father-in-law. I pray that one day, when I'm old like you, I can give praise to God for blessing my family like He has blessed yours. You're the best.

#4 is the greatest...you're my hero, Dad!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, Bill and Laurie. There's only one MDN...Thank God!
ReplyDeleteLucky for you, I'm about as close to MDN in personality as it gets.
ReplyDeleteso true, my dear, so true...
ReplyDeleteWell, Dan, what can I say? If you need another another 20 reason why you love MDN, I have a list.
ReplyDeleteWAIT A MINUTE!!!!! BEHIND EVERY MAN THERE'S A GOOD WOMAN EGGING HIM ON! WHERE'S MY ODE TO.....?????? I CAN'T BELIEVE MDN GOT AN ODE BEFORE ME--THE PERFECT MOTHER-IN-LAW! DON'T FORGET WHO GAVE YOU THOSE 2 WONDERFUL AIR CONDITIONERS FOR GABBIE'S ROOM!
ReplyDeleteThanks alot, Danny! Now we'll never be able to live with MDN. I didn't get to go to a baseball game this year, so I can't rave about this man!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that this post has generated so much buzz...Jaye, your turn will come (if you promise never to buy another air conditioner for my family)...and, we all know that Mike cannot be more insufferable than he already is. That is just a part of his charm.
ReplyDeleteJaye...I am with you. I can't believe that Mike got an ode. I think that he must have gotten on Dan's computer and wrote this himself! You definitely deserve an ode and I think Mike should write it!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think he's a bit overrated.
ReplyDeletehilarious!...chris, you were always a key player on "the dark side" of the family...hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteI always liked chris L. Bravo to his post! He may become my favorite son-in-law!
ReplyDeletewow, jaye, little bitter? and, please, do you really think leaman can surplant me as the fav son-in-law? that would be the day!
ReplyDeleteThis should be called the Daily Family Feud instead of the Daily Difference!!
ReplyDeleteBill, how long have you known the Norquists? My intent was to give a light-hearted tribute to MDN and instead WWIII broke out! Clearly our family needs your prayers.
ReplyDelete25 YEARS? We are praying for your family. You could come join us at Pinebrook. Wendell Calder is speaking starting tonight. No war going on here. It's peaceful.
ReplyDeleteWendell's message tonight was very challenging! MDN should have been here!
